 | Maze Day
What is it?
This is a game in which each pair of students is given a 15" X 15" Masonite board into which two maze patterns have been cut.
How do you play?
One student is blindfolded. His partner puts a pencil in his hands and the "rat" runs the maze with his pencil while his partner keeps times and records them, making a learning graph. The blindfolded student "runs" both maze patterns for seven trials. The duet then switches chairs to repeat the experiment.
What outcomes does it yield?
- It provides a chance to teach about learning curves while the students have fun playing the "rat."
- Students can discover how extraneous variables may impede the accurate collection of data.
- It allows them to create a learning curve using data they generate themselves.
- It allows you an opportunity to teach your students how to clean up after they finish running an experiment.
- It allows you a chance to step to the side and just be a facilitator in the classroom.
What is included in the kit?
- 15 maze boards with two patterns cut into them using a computerized driven router which ensures that all mazes are exactly the same.
- 1 reproducible maze data graphing sheet
- 1 set of classroom directions
How much does it cost?
A class of 15 boards costs $ 50.
Individual boards are available only if you purchase a full classroom set.
